Flash originally evolved as a browser technology. So when we first began working on the Flash client we started out with a concept for a browser-based version. Of course, Flash is much more than a pure browser technology today, but that's how it (and we) started.
Additionally, we wanted to have a better interaction of the Tibia client with the Tibia website. For example, instead of requiring two logins (one on the website, one to start playing) in order to get access to all our Tibia services, only one should be needed.
There have probably been several further reasons for the management why they chose a browser-based Flash client, but that's what came into my mind right now.
The most important part for you to know is: We will start with a browser-based version. This, however, doesn't mean that there will never be a standalone Flash client. We wanted and needed to focus on one particular Flash client version first (browser-based), we want to do a good job here, then we can talk about evolution - in the strict sense of the term.
